The Comedy of Errors

Theoretical Design, UNCSA 2024

In typical Shakespearean fashion, The Comedy of Errors involves long lost twins, love triangles, horrible miscommunication, mistaken identity, and slapstick humor. This theoretical production of the play takes place in an all-black-and-white world inspired by early 1900’s silent films, taking particular interest in the Keystone Cops and Buster Keaton. I attempted to implement a variety of early 1900’s silhouettes, as well as complete the looks with dramatic silent film makeup and hairstyles. Color is one of, if not, my favorite elements of design, so this project acted as an engaging challenge to break me out of my box and think more creatively about silhouette, pattern, and proportion.
